Macie’s Foundation grants wishes to medically fragile, critically ill, or economically disadvantaged children who need joy, hope, and moments of magic. We are committed to serving children who may be overlooked by other programs—including those facing both medical challenges and financial hardship.
Eligibility Requirements
Age
We are a children's charity. All children must be between birth and 18 years old at the time of referral to be eligible for a wish through Macie's Foundation.
One of the following:
1. The child has a medically fragile or critical medical condition, such as:
Chronic or complex illnesses
Life-limiting or life-altering diagnoses
Severe neurological, mobility, or developmental conditions
Technology dependence (ventilator, feeding tube, oxygen, etc.)
Rare diseases
Frequent hospitalizations or long-term treatments
or
2. The child is living in poverty or facing significant financial hardship
We believe joy and hope should never be out of reach for a child simply because a family is struggling financially.
Children may qualify if the family is experiencing:
Low household income
Homelessness or unstable housing
Uninsured or underinsured status
Unemployment or major financial strain
Reliance on public assistance
Other circumstances limiting access to opportunities
No medical condition is required if financial hardship alone creates barriers to childhood joy.
Who can refer a child for a wish?
Parents or legal guardians
Family members
Healthcare providers
Social workers
Teachers, counselors, or school staff
Community professionals
Anyone who knows a child in need of hope
If you’re unsure whether a child qualifies, you can still refer them. Our team will help determine eligibility with compassion and care.
We say "YES" whenever we can
Macie’s Foundation exists for children who need hope—whether their struggle is medical, financial, or both. Every child deserves a moment of magic, and we work tirelessly to make that happen.
