Home / What We Do

Macie’s Foundation is America’s partner in serving the nation’s most vulnerable children. Rooted in compassion and inspired by Macie’s story, we work to bring hope, joy, and lasting memories to children facing medical fragility, critical illnesses, and economic hardships. We are among the last nonprofit organizations worldwide powered by a passionate, highly sought-after volunteer team. At the end of the day, our mission, vision, and values not only create moments of magic for children around the world, but create a world where magic means more.

Eligibility

At Macie’s Foundation, we exist to support children and families facing extraordinary circumstances. Our programs are designed to meet families where they are—during moments of crisis, uncertainty, and overwhelming need—by providing meaningful, timely assistance.

Below are the general eligibility guidelines for receiving support through Macie’s Foundation.

Who We Serve

Families may be eligible for assistance if they meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Have a child (birth through 18 years old) facing a serious medical condition, disability, or prolonged hospitalization

  • Are experiencing a medical crisis that has placed significant emotional or financial strain on the family

  • Have been impacted by an unexpected emergency or hardship, such as a house fire or sudden displacement

  • Have a child who would benefit from joy-centered support, including holiday assistance or special experiences during hospitalization or recovery

Additional Considerations

  • The child or family must reside within the United States

  • Assistance is based on available funding and the specific needs presented

  • Preference may be given to families experiencing acute or urgent hardship

  • Families may be referred by hospitals, social workers, community organizations, or may apply directly

What Eligibility Does Not Require

We believe support should be accessible and compassionate.

Families are not required to:

  • Meet income thresholds or provide extensive financial documentation unless specifically requested

  • Be affiliated with a specific hospital, organization, or religious institution

  • Have prior involvement with Macie’s Foundation
